Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or mason jar with lid)
  • Small saucepan (for syrup)
  • Glasses (rocks glasses or margarita glasses)
  • Small plate (for rim sugar)

Ingredients
  

For the Spiced Rim:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

For the Margarita:

  • 2 oz Reposado Tequila
  • 1 oz Cointreau or triple sec
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin purée
  • ½ part simple syrup see below
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Ice
  • Apple slices for garnish

For Homemade Cinnamon Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

Make the Cinnamon Syrup:

  • In a small saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  • Bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves. Let cool before using.

Prepare the Glass Rim:

  • On a small plate, mix sugar and pumpkin pie spice.
  • Dip the rim of each glass into maple syrup, then roll in the spiced sugar mixture.

Shake the Margarita:

  • In a shaker filled with ice, add tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, lemon juice, pumpkin purée, cinnamon, and simple syrup.
  • Shake well until everything is smooth and chilled.

Pour and Garnish:

  • Strain into prepared glasses filled with ice.
  • Garnish with apple slices and a light sprinkle of cinnamon if you’d like.

Notes

This recipe makes two margaritas, but you can easily scale it up for a pitcher if you’re serving a crowd.
