- For the Blackberry Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 ¼ cup water
- ¾ cup sugar
- For the Cocktail:
- 2 oz blackberry rum Bacardi Superior Rum or similar
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 3 lime wedges
- 2 –3 drops black food coloring optional for spooky look
- Lemon-lime soda Sprite or 7UP works
- Ice cubes
- Fresh blackberries and lime slices for garnish
Make the blackberry simple syrup:
In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, water, and sugar.
Bring to a simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring until the berries break down and the sugar dissolves.
Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing on the berries to extract juice. Let cool.
Build the cocktail:
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz blackberry rum, 2 tablespoons lime juice, and 1 oz blackberry simple syrup.
Add ice and shake well for 10–15 seconds.
Serve:
Strain into a glass filled with ice.
Top with lemon-lime soda.
Stir gently and add 2–3 drops of black food coloring if you want that spooky dark finish.
