Ingredients
  

  • For the Blackberry Simple Syrup:
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 ¼ cup water
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • For the Cocktail:
  • 2 oz blackberry rum Bacardi Superior Rum or similar
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 3 lime wedges
  • 2 –3 drops black food coloring optional for spooky look
  • Lemon-lime soda Sprite or 7UP works
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh blackberries and lime slices for garnish

Instructions
 

Make the blackberry simple syrup:

  • In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, water, and sugar.
  • Bring to a simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring until the berries break down and the sugar dissolves.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing on the berries to extract juice. Let cool.

Build the cocktail:

  • In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz blackberry rum, 2 tablespoons lime juice, and 1 oz blackberry simple syrup.
  • Add ice and shake well for 10–15 seconds.

Serve:

  • Strain into a glass filled with ice.
  • Top with lemon-lime soda.
  • Stir gently and add 2–3 drops of black food coloring if you want that spooky dark finish.

Garnish:

  • Add fresh blackberries and lime slices on top for a festive touch.

Notes

  • Always strain the blackberry syrup to keep the drink smooth.
  • Adjust the sweetness level depending on your soda brand.
  • Black food coloring is optional but adds a great Halloween vibe.
